Masters Series #4 - July 28-29, 2001 Great Lakes Laser Masters Champs  -  (Also Leland Laser Regatta)

Eligibility:                      This regatta is open to all Laser Class members.  Laser Class membership requires.

Scoring:                        Open regatta scored separately.  Same start for both groups.  For Masters awards RRS A2 low point system with NALC Master Handicap system.  For overall results, Apprentice (35-44) + 3 per race, Masters (45-54 +2 per race, Grand Masters (55-64) +1 per race, Olympians (65+) +0 per race.  Seven races planned, but more may be sailed time permitting.  One throwout after 6 races.

Preregistration:                     None, but let us know if you will be coming.  This will help us to plan a better regatta for you.

Masters Series #6 - September 8-9, 2001 - No Coast (Midwest) Masters Championship Notice of Race

Host Club: New Mexico Sailing Club

1. Rules: This regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2001 (RRS), RRS Appendix B, the rules of the International Laser Class Association (ILCA), this Notice of Race, except as any of these are changed by the Sailing Instructions, and the Sailing Instructions.

2. Eligibility and Entry: The regatta will be sailed in Lasers. The regatta is open to all current members of the ILCA. Membership to the ILCA available at regatta registration. Lasers Masters ( age 35+) will sail with open Laser class. Seperate scoring.

3. ISAF Ranking: Not Applicable

4. Advertising: This will be a Category B event (RRS Appendix G).

5. Changes To Racing Rules: Posted in the sailing instructions, and on the official regatta bulletin board.

6. Schedule: Friday September 7, 2001 - Tuning session 1500-1700 and registration 1700;

Saturday September 8, 2001 - Race 1 1220 warning signal, Subsequent Races to follow. Dinner after last race on Saturday.

Sunday, September 9, 2001 - Race 1 1050 warning signal, Subsequent races to follow. No warning signal after 1420.

7. Advance Registration: Register in advance by submitting an entry form and the appropriate fee to Jim Brainard, at the address indicated below.

8. Fees: The entry fee is (to be determined). There will be an additional fee of $__ (to be determined) for boats that have not registered by September 1, 2000. Registrants receive dinner Saturday night. Click here to register online.

9. Sailing Instructions: The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

10. Venue: Regatta headquarters will be at Heron Lake, Island View/Salmon Run Campground.

11. Courses: Courses will be Olympic Triangle, Windward/Leeward, or variations thereof. No minimum course length.

12. Scoring: RRS A2 low point system with one discard with 5 or more races.

13. Awards: Top 5, Top Woman, additional awards based on numbers of registrants.

14. General Notes: Heron Lake is at 7000 ft elevation and can be cold in early September. Past regattas have seen brisk breezes. Heron is a no wake lake and is located southwest of Chama, NM. Camping is available at Salmon Run/Island View Campgrounds. Evenings and nights are likely to be chilly. Motels available in Chama, NM. 20 minute drive from regatta site.

CLASS: Laser and Radial (ages 35+)  

RULES: RRS, USSA prescriptions, Class Rules, SI’s, Category B regatta. Laser Class membership required.
Bring your membership card, please.

SCHEDULE: Thursday, October 11, 17:00 – 19:00 registration. Friday, October 12 , 8:30 – 10:00 registration, followed by skipper meeting., first warning at 12, three races.  Saturday, October 13, first warning at 12:00, three races. Sunday, October14, first warning at 12:00, two races, weather permitting.

COURSES: Windward/ leeward with some triangles in the Pacific Ocean approx. one mile north of Mission Bay Jetty. Course legs will be approximately .75 mile to 1 mile long, depending on conditions. Starting system 2

SCORING: RRS A2, low point system and north American Masters Handicap scoring system. One discard with 5 or more races. 1 race required for Championship and Masters Grand Prix points.

ENTRY FEE: Pre-registration postmarked before October 6, Lasers and Radial, $80 US currency only, make check payable to Mission Bay Yacht Club (MBYC). Late registration $100. Entry fee includes T-shirt, Breakfast Buffet and box lunch, plus dinner on Saturday.  

REGISTRATION: Pre-registration, send Laser Class form to MBYC, 1215 El Carmel Place, San Diego, CA 92109.  

BOAT CHARTER: Contact Fast Lane Sailing Center, (619) 222-0766.  

DOGS: Sorry, NO DOGS allowed at Mission Bay YC. No exceptions.  

ACCOMMODATIONS: Sorry NO CAMPING ALLOWED AT MBYC or in Mission Bay Park Lots. Camping at Campland, northeast corner of Mission Bay by Interstate 5. $$$Bahia Hotel Mission Bay, Catamaran Hotel Mission Bay both very close to the yacht club. $ There are several motels in Pacific Beach, close to Interstate 5.
